We're excited to introduce a new opportunity for members to enjoy competitive and organized matchplay at Hazelmere Tennis.
Our new WTN Club Matchplay Ladder allows players to compete regularly while building their International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Tennis Number (WTN).
Whether you're looking for more matches, new playing partners, or a way to track your progress, this program is designed to make competitive tennis more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
What is the World Tennis Number (WTN)?
The ITF World Tennis Number (WTN) is a global tennis rating system that measures a player's level on a scale from 40 (beginner) to 1 (professional).
Unlike traditional local ratings, the WTN is:
- Global – used by players in more than 140 countries
- Universal – the same scale for all ages, genders, and levels
- Performance-based – calculated using actual match results
This means your rating can travel with you and help you find competitive matches anywhere in the world.
How the Club Matchplay Ladder Works
The WTN Club Matchplay system allows clubs to organize structured box ladders where players compete against others of a similar level.
Program features include:

- ✔ Automatic promotion and relegation within ladder boxes
- ✔ Match results that can contribute to your ITF World Tennis Number

Getting Started
To participate in WTN-based matchplay, players will need to create a free account in the Tennis Canada Matchplay system. This allows match results to be recorded and optionally shared with the ITF for WTN calculation.
